About the artist
László Gulyás was born in Budapest in 1960.
He studied graphic design at the Secondary School of Visual Arts, then continued his studies at the Hungarian University of Fine Arts between 1983 and 1987, specializing in printmaking.
“My work has been labeled in many ways: realistic, naturalistic, photorealistic, hyper- or super-realistic. However, these definitions only capture details of what I do. Instead of categories, I am more interested in my personal relationship to the tradition of painting – in this sense, perhaps the term ’traditional painter’ is closest to me.”
